4.0 out of 5 stars Great modern poetry from around the world, Oct 27 2005
By A Customer
This review is from: Routes (Paperback)
This fantastic book of modern poetry has something for everyone. It offers more than 150 works from twelve contemporary talents. It's Bewrite Books second poetry anthology (the first was the remarkable Shaken and Stirred), and features the work of some talented poets who already have a good online following, such as American poets Heather Bryant, Kathryn McL Collins, Dazz Jackson, and Canadian poet Heather Grace Stewart (whose photograph of a cool Canadian scene graces the cover) as well as Bristol Poet in Residence Tony Lewis-Jones and Norwegian poet Jan Oskar Hansen. The themes in these poems cover a wide range of human emotions; some left me breathless, others evoked anger, while others brought on tears. This is the perfect book to curl up with by the fire on a cold winter day, or to give a modern poetry enthusiast as a gift. Highly recommended.
