It put me to sleep. Maybe if I turn the sound off it would help. Back to angry birds I guess.

1.0 out of 5 stars Another CHILD-TARGETED game with In-App Purchasing, Spying and Tracking, and Incentives for visiting Social Media June 17 2014
By Robert Reese - Published on Amazon.com

The game is targeted to under 13, so why is Rovio putting in social media, then claiming children under 13 shouldn't use it? Do these same children read about consulting an adult before being enticed by Rovio to spend a parent's or grandparent's money? Moreover, this game admittedly offers a back-door to the internet.

Let's not forget you are PAYING for this app, only to have advertising, and STILL not get the entire game.

My advice? Spend your money on an app by a company that isn't out to harvest your and your children and grandchildren like a crop, picking every possible penny out of you while exposing your young ones to content you probably don't want them accessing.

1.0 out of 5 stars The good game, the bad free game ads and the ugly things they can do to you! June 18 2014
By jjceo - Published on Amazon.com

While this game is excellent it can lead to trouble. Later in the game I was asked to try more free Rovio games. One of them, Angry Birds Star Wars, is very bad for children. Angry Birds Star Wars for example has AdMob, Adsense, Amazon InApp billing, Burstly Adware, JumpTap Adware, Milineal Adware, Flurry Analytics, camera use, read phone state, Facebook code, the ability to receive Google messages, read and write to your external storage and to get the list of your accounts! That is basically almost all of the things you do not want your child to get a hold of so make sure that you turn off your WIFI.

Back to Alex:

The object of the game is to help Alex make a Rube Goldberg machine on each level to help guide the balls to the desired location. Parts of the route or machine are missing and you are to touch them from the supplied parts and move then to the right locations to get a successful result. Each level has 3 stars and your job is to get them all. The graphics and music are professionally designed.

After a few levels the hints of where to place the missing items in the route are no longer provided so you have to be creative and locate them in the proper positions on your own. The game is a lot of fun and creative. About 21 levels in the app asked me if I wanted to try some more free Rovio games and it listed 9 of them. I am familiar with some of them and they can be VERY bad. This is the potentially dangerous part of this app as I listed above.

It does reach a point in the later levels where the stars are placed in position where it is not possible to get all of them to automatically lower your score but if you realize that you do not have to use all of the puzzle pieces you can actually get all of the stars. Overall this is a good game but with the imbedded free apps that can be full of garbage you should turn off you WIFI for sure. This is a bait and switch where your children are enticed to get the hottest free games around that are full of the spyware and InApp purchases that you are trying to keep them away from.

Permissions:
* full network access
This app contains Flurry Analytics so it can monitor your game play and playing habits. Usually Flurry Is used to monitor the game's performance and track any software issues. This game as it is now has only the WIFI permission so it cannot see any personal data.

The app does contain links on the main page to Facebook and twitter. In addition there is a link to YouTube to see a brief video of the game. YouTube does not belong in an app for children under 13. They are only a few clicks away from a video you will not want your child to see.

4.0 out of 5 stars No IAP, Minimal Permissions, Full Content, Internal Amazon Webstore Linking June 18 2014
By Tinfoot - Published on Amazon.com

When I saw Rovio's name on this game, I groaned. Loudly. Cats scattered in fright, causing a book stand to rock precariously and rolling a golf ball off the edge, hitting my cup of coffee along the way and knocking that over as well, straight down into the cat bowl. SCORE! But still a big bloody mess. How life mimics AMAZING ALEX PREMIUM...

I, of all people, have just a strong history of slamming terrible apps with intrusive code and dark marketing schemes, which describes Rovio in their OTHER games. However, I also judge by personal, and hopefully, fair standards, and this game in itself is overall just fine.

The game has only one permission, Network Access, which raised my eyebrows in pleased suprise. This is used to download and play FREE Levels of the Week, which apparently showcases other User Created levels. Yes, you can unlock a level creator and upload them to share with others.

It does contain Flurry and apparently Google In-App Billing... but there isn't any traditional in-app purchasing I could find. Rovio DOES have their signature Pause Menu carousel of in-house Advertising for other Rovio games, including the far more adware riddled Angry Bird series. However, in consistency of how I treated simlar daisy-chain games, I can't hit that hard on this game for outside Game Linkings. Best I can say in this case is, parents be very, very aware that these links lead to the online Amazon's Website (not the Store App) where all manner of One Click purchasing mayhem can be had. This also leads me to believe the Google Purchasing present in the game is only in case someone gets this game from that "other place".

In other words, it looks like AMAZING ALEX PREMIUM does have its full content.

Even the social media is rather tucked away on the main menu, including a YouTube link for game videos (13+ being Rovio's liability disclaimer). There were no constant, in-your-face media pushes during game play, and the Other Games advertising is not overly aggressive.

All in all, as much as I would love to rip into Rovio again, I am impelled by fairness and consistent standards to give AMAZING ALEX four stars. There isn't any traditional IAP (in spite of the Google IAP present), Flurry Analytics is a minor concern (I happen to know Rovio's mercenary Privacy Policy, but without the additional permissions, it is rather limited to anonymous data), the social media isn't a nuisance, and minimal permissions, so I am left with that listing of Rovio games, which are far uglier in terms of addon junk, and direct linking to Amazon's website. But since it is outside of the game, and the game itself is marketed towards Preteen and older, it behooves the Parent/Player to be aware of what one is clicking into. It is rather polished revamp of the Physics-based puzzler genre.

As others have noted this game contains a lot of aware, you shouldn't download this unless you have you have xposed XPrivacy or something similar installed where you can block Internet access and access to your Web browser..

2.0 out of 5 stars rovio at it again June 18 2014
By Jeremy Orris - Published on Amazon.com

Another game which uses spy like code, external link linking to open browser etc. Rovio will most likely remove this review because I have not done an in app purchase. They do remove reviews that they do not like. Happened when I wrote review about Angry Birds Star wars. But it needs to be said. Overall it is a fun game. Takes me back to my childhood with similar PC games.
