Season 2 continues with the sofa sitting musings and biting observations of Britain's most sedentary family. The humour is without parallel and sometimes it is not what they say, but those awkward silent moments and facial reactions that bring out the most hilarious moments.

Still perplexed why there is still no NTSC version of Season 3 and subsequent later special editions. Had to resort to buying a UK Season 3 when overseas and playing it on my ultra-cheap region free DVD player.

I've watched all of the Royle Family series since they started in the UK. I have to correct "Brit Crit" - the show started in 1998, not the '80s, and still comes across as current now. I'm not a fan of sitcoms generally as I find them too slapstick, unrealistic and cliched. This is anything but - Caroline Aherne and Craig Cash (the young couple in the show who are also the writers), have the ability to take the everyday and mundane behaviour of a couch potato family in Northern England and make it a hilarious - and sometimes sad and touching - show. Both the show and the actors have won plenty of awards, and it is now a firm favourite in the UK - I'm hoping my Canadian friends and family will love it too as they are getting a copy for Christmas!
