Product Description

Product Description

"The woman's faded Army coat, which partially covered her long skirt, had seen better days. A mass of silver hair bushed out wildly from beneath a red knit hat that had something on it that twinkled in the sunlight. On the lady's feet, dirty tennis shoes were riddled with holes, exposing thin green socks beneath. The approach of a mangy crippled dog caught the girl's attention as it slowly limped into her line of vision. It was pitifully hobbling on three legs toward the seated woman."

When antiques dealer Sadie Brennan, fresh from the break up of a long-term relationship, is called to her sister's estate outside Chicago, she has no idea she's being pulled into a major mystery. She is there to help her 8-year-old niece Savannah, who has entered into a trauma-induced state of muteness. But once she arrives in town, Sadie meets a strange homeless woman named Ruby, and her life truly becomes an odyssey. Together, Sadie and Savannah seek to solve the puzzle that is Ruby.

In Ruby, her first work of fiction in more than a decade, Mary Summer Rain delivers a merry adventure of metaphysical awakening, led by an old woman whose identity and purpose is unclear, but who just may be something much more than she appears . . . and more than you've ever imagined.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read!!!, April 26 2005
By Janine Saunders - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Ruby: A NOVEL (Paperback)
There are many jewels to be found in the novel, "Ruby".

Ruby, who is the female aspect of God, helps the characters resolve their relationship issues by helping them see the root causes of their problems. It is filled with insight and wisdom.

I loved the characters. The story takes you away and it is as if you are right there watching all the events unfold.

The ending gave me chills...truth bumps.

Absolutely Brilliant. Excellent.

I recommend ALL books by Mary Summer Rain.

5.0 out of 5 stars A welcome Return, Jun 11 2005
By Roderic - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Ruby: A NOVEL (Paperback)
This book, while disarmingly simple in it's premise and style, contains a compassion and grace, that is genuine. It is a welcome return for those of us who have come to be used to the prolific offerings of Mary Summer Rain, only to have her suddenly take a sabbatical. It was an exciting prospect for her to return with a novel, only her second, and I was far from dissappointed. She simultaneously perceives life through the innocent eyes of a child, and the learned eyes of a sage, and the confluence of that sight transmits so nicely into this story of a deeply personal spiritual nature. It is well written, with great thought, and is imbued with integrity and charm from its beginning to its conclusion.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mary does it again..., May 12 2005
By B. Williams - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Ruby: A NOVEL (Paperback)
I found "Ruby" to be a wonderful tale of discovery, adventure and healing. It is like a mixture of "DaVinci Code", "Joan of Arcadia", and No-Eyes all rolled into one.

She has a wonderful way of touching you on a soul level and stirring up questions in yourself. As always she has a special talent for describing scenes and surroundings perfectly. This novel is no exception. I hope that those who read it will have an open mind and take a look at life events in a new way. I highly recommend it.
