Martha is a very interesting person, and this is evident in the extent of research and arcana that goes into her writing. You'll probably learn a lot about some long-forgotten aspects of culture and etiquette, and be impressed with the local color that pervades all her books.

This book is dedicated to me, among others, for my "good taste." Yes, I had married her daughter!
