Used daily for just over a year. Unit boils quick and well. Auto-shut off O.K. Cons: Lid does not open upright; makes filling awkward. Plastic hinge that holds lid to the unit has warped and worse, has broken off. Lid design is poor and has resulted in premature product failure. Beware of internal plastic parts.

Our unit is 5 plus years old. Its strengths are speed of heating, quiet, and looks. The only drawback is we believe the lid is going to stop functioning shortly and we will be looking for a replacement. Right now we are looking at the same kettle or possibly a Breville 800 series. In the five plus years it has been a workhorse in our household and we were completely happy with it.

Out of the water view window and out of the bottom. I think this is potentially a hazard if the water builds up between the kettle and the powered base and contacts the power line.
