Product Description

Mega-selling global comedy rock-star, Russell Peters, is back with The Green Card Tour, Live From The O2 Arena. Shot over two record-breaking shows in front of over 30,000 Londoners (yes, as in England, not Ontario), the resulting DVD and Blu-ray Disc releases will contain a multitude of extras, with over 2 hours of bonus material, featuring: an extended, 90-minute unedited version of the performance; deleted scenes; bloopers; behind-the-scenes footage; audio commentary, and a music video by Hip Hop legend Masta Ace. Cheeky, controversial and always hilarious, Brampton's own (yes, as in Ontario, not ...um...er) Russell Peters once again delivers his trademark take on race and culture as well as his lightning quick improv. Russell shares his observations on everything from the declining population of white people, to the stereotyping of Arabs, to his recent travels in India.

Prepare for disappointment!! I have been a big fan of Russell Peters since the beginning and was excited for his new dvd to come out. This is not what I expected, just an observational re-hashing of predictable racial situations without the edge or comedic element that made Russell so famous to begin with. Don't get me wrong, I snickered a bit and overall it was "alright" I guess. However, this dvd had no insight or edge like previous shows that had me crying with laughter or rolling around on the floor. It honestly seemed like he was doing his "job" touring and making $$ rather than being the playful "mocker" of all that I used to find hilarious. Maybe Russell is just burnt out from working too much? Maybe he's gotten disconnected with all that fame, money, and L.A. lifestyle? I'm not sure, but if I were you, save your cash and wait for the next dvd to come out because you're not missing anything this round.. *UPDATE- I just saw Russell here in Calgary for the Notorious tour and I'm pleased to inform you that I laughed so hard at one point I thought I might puke! My face hurt for a full day afterwards, Russell is back in fine form and better than ever!! He talked a fair bit about his divorce so maybe he was in a bad place during the filming of this terrible release. Either way, I guarantee the Notorious release will be a return to 5 stars. Yay Russell! Glad to have you back!*

Russell has a huge fan base, and as a result, everybody who buys this DVD or BD is likely to have watched (or even attended) previous Russell's shows... And therefore, it's not hard to tell that a lot of jokes are being recycled. In fact, 3 or 4 stories were straight from the previous shows with very little modifications. This is not quite the way to reward loyal fan, Russell! We all know you can do better than this. Timing is off, Russell does not look much into the show. I'm very disappointed overall!
The funniest parts are in the bonus material, with some contents that should not even have been cut from the main track in the first place. There are also some extra videos of very poor quality that do not add anything at all.
First time watchers, forget about this show and go for the much funnier previous ones.

I bought this for a friend after viewing it on a streaming media service. It incorporates some of Russell's best material although some of the classic "Someone's going to get a hurt real bad" routine is sadly missing. Some will complain that a few of the jokes and audience interactions are recycled, but considering he improvs his responses to the replies he gets real time is quite impressive. It's not that easy to think up something funny on your feet working with audience material. If you have thin skin, Russel's material might not be for you. You really have to be able to laugh at yourself and appreciate cultural differences and eccentricities to be able to appreciate the humour. Russel pokes fun at the taboo and PC things which aren't meant to be hurtful, but to allow one to laugh with others. Highly recommended.
