5.0 out of 5 stars Brilliant But A MAJOR Inaccuracy, Aug 23 2006
By Warp Girl "warpgirl" - Published on Amazon.com

The dolls are beautifull but I thought one generic face for the women was sad. My only BIG complaint is that Empress Marie WAS NOT of Hess-Darmstdt! Before marrying Alexander 2nd she was Princess Dagmar of Denmark. Only after converting to Orthidoxy did she become Marie Fedorevna

4.0 out of 5 stars Imperial Russia, April 15 2005
By Nevada Snow - Published on Amazon.com

The splendor of Imperial Russia is summarized well by Tom Tierney. Costumes show the abrupt changes in dress when Peter the Great introduced westernization to his realm. There is also a fine selection of gowns from Catherine the Great's time (including her magnificent coronation robes).

It's a pity there were no costumes worn by Elizabeth II, who was famous for her love of clothes. I also think that the sources for all of the costumes (ie who wore them or on whose painting the costume is based) should have been mentioned in the text, not just descriptions of the fabrics.
