Buckle up, soldier. Welcome to Aliens: Colonial Marines. Created by Gearbox Software, the critically acclaimed and fan-favorite developers of Borderlands and Brothers In Arms, this first-person shooter is steeped in the eerie, claustrophobic and terrifying atmosphere that made the Aliens films successful worldwide. You and your friends will become the most badass military outfit in the galaxy - the US Colonial Marines. It's down to you to not just survive, but wipe out the Xeno infestation.

Key Game Features

  • Enlist in the Marine Corps - Bringing you a true sequel to James Cameron's classic Aliens, get tooled up with classic Marine weapons including pulse rifles, sentry turrets, arc welders, motion trackers, flame-throwers, powerloaders, and more.
  • The Most Authentic Aliens Experience Ever - Using authentic environments inspired by the film series, including Hadley's Hope, the Sulaco and LV-426, players will be immersed in an eerie, atmospheric world where any moment could bring death.
  • Drop-in / Dropout Co-op Gameplay - The masters of co-op bring their expertise to the Aliens universe. Xenos getting too tough? Call up your buddies so they can drop in with extra firepower. The whole campaign can be played with a squad of up to four players, dropping in and out as necessary through self-contained missions within an overarching narrative.
  • Loadouts and Upgrades - Create your perfect killing machine. An extensive upgrade system allows players to customize their characters to play the way they want. Earn experience to get perks, new weapons and new looks for your squad.
  • A Variety of Aliens to Face - Battle against the full class of aliens seen in the first three movies -- together known as xenomorphs -- including the Facehugger, Chestburster, and Drone alien from Alien, the Warrior and the Queen aliens from Aliens, as well as the Runner alien from Alien 3. The game also features an all-new heavily-armored alien variety, known as "The Crusher."

This is not a good game at all. Pass and make Gearbox redo it. The graphics are bad, the sound is bad, the MP is disjointed. Check the reviews online before you even think about buying it. Definitely does not do the Aliens franchise any justice.

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
I pre ordered this game with a lot of anticipation since I am a huge fan of Borderlands 2 and the support that Gearbox has provided to that game well after it's launch. I figured with all of their ability and having a chance to make an iconic movie into a game such as Alien that nothing less than great things would be accomplished. I was wrong.

Pros: You get to shoot aliens.
That's it for the Pros

-Voice acting is horrible
-Graphics are dated and it looks like the game was developed 5 years ago or longer instead of just being released.
-Split screen is horizontal only, no vertical option
-Co-Op mode for your buddy who is sitting beside you doesn't give him the option to save character or progress. So that means they basically play a generic character unlike Borderlands 2 they could have something all their own.
-The mobs are very cookie cutter and the pathing for them is glitchy. You'll fight 20 guys in the first act that all look the same.
-Customize options are limited. I expected some great ways to build a character since the game promoted the "experience" system but all it is really is upgrading the same handful of guns with only a few options.

There are more cons but I think you get the picture and there is no need to beat a dead Alien. I'm sad to say that Gearbox and Randy Pitchford has wasted $60 of my money. Save time and money and skip this game.

Do not buy this game.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not that bad. April 18 2013

While this game does have its flaws I still found it fun to play. Mind you gearbox has put out 3 patches the latest being 100mb. So I have been playing the updated version not the launch version. Gearbox also plans to releases more patches and lots more DLC in the future. If your an Alien fan especially of the James Cameron version I would say get yourself a copy.
