A quality sci-fi series for the hardcore science fiction fan. Deserves it's place alongside Battlestar Gallactica as one of the best.
Lasted two seasons but ended nicely.

Where Sg-1 was totally without direction and was blown from poorly executed plot point to plot point, and SGA was badly and poorly conceived from the beginning; aliens that suck life "energy though their hands"[just puked a little], SGU on the other hand had a clear well crafted plot and excellent execution. While the typical studio interference is present the writers managed to downplay and neutralized that interference quite well. If only syfy wasn't such a penny pinching network (and of the opinion stargate franchise was at it's projected life end) SGU would have grown to be one of the great shows of the genre(IMO it already has).

I think that this series was great. It is a real pity that it was cancelled. I can understand that many who watched and enjoyed Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis might not find the differences with respect to Stargate Universe entirely positive. However, the fact that we are dealing with a completely different situation (as series concept) should have kept at least a reasonable number of fans. The final season on DVD is a definite must for me. Unfortunately, I haven't made it through the whole thing yet, let alone the special features, but they sound very interesting.
