This review is from: Sabrent HDMI Extension cable over Cat5/6 RJ45 Extender adapter (Up to 200-Feet) (Personal Computers)
i installed this with two 50-foot cat 6 cables, and it worked with 1080p@24hz signal -- but produced lots of noisy snow when handling a 1080p@60hz signal.
we only use our setup for watching DVD and BluRay, most films show at 24hz and look great. but any of our DVDs made from television programming, (and even television preview material on film discs) go over the wire at 60hz and come out looking awful.
the hardware is nicely built from metal parts, and can be secured to a wall or surface.
the AC adapter doesn't fit perfectly, leaving a 1/8" gap between the adapter tip and the HDMI receiver (shock hazard if you install this where kids may be exploring ).
since it doesn't fully support 1080p in our environment (at just half of the specified maximum distance for 1080p) i returned this item.

I recently moved into a new house where all the home theater equipment came pre-installed. The professional installers basically wired all the AV equipment from a closet downstairs to the family room where the TV was. I also wanted to connect the same AV source to the TV upstairs in the master bedroom. Fortunately, there were 2 CAT-5s that the builder pre-wired into every room. I asked the home theater installers if they can use the CAT5's to do an HDMI connection. They replied it will cost $600+ as they use high-end equipment from Gefen.
Well, I decided to get the $50 alternative from Amazon. The installers looked at it and said it will never work, the cheap ones always have problems. Well, they were wrong! I have a very long connection (150ft+) with a few splicing in between and yet the HDMI signal carries across flawlessly. I have a Comcast HD cable box, Sony receiver, Sony Blu-Ray player, and a Sony LCD TV and they all work seamlessly together. I am quite happy with this purchase, especially for the price.

I bought 4 from tiger direct and it worked great.
I ran two cat 5e cables about 100 feet and the adapter worked without being powered.
Unfortunately that was a minus for me because I was wanting to be able to cut the video by disconnecting the power to the adapter.
As far as I could tell the picture quality was the same as an HDMI cable.
Just make sure your cat cables are properly connected to your RJ-45 connectors.
I ran about 10 cat cables and it took me about 20 times to figure out how to do it right.
Half of all the cable I ran didn't work, so I had to cut the ends off and redo them.
So when you cut your cat cable leave some extra at the ends just in case.
I plan to purchase a couple more just in case I need them.
