About the authors

John is a Senior Management Consultant with Mercuri International, one of the world's largest sales consultancies. 

At Mercuri he is actively involved with selling as well as developing and delivering sales and sales management training workshops to companies across all industries around the world.

He has 25 years experience in selling to SMEs as well as the world's largest multinationals in Europe, North America and the Middle and Near East.  Having lived in North America for over 10 years, he brings the best in sales techniques from both sides of the Atlantic. 

He has worked in front line sales, led international sales teams and inspired third party distributors.

John has also run international business redesign projects and has over five years in Marketing Director roles. He gained a B.Sc at Southampton University in 1981.

I have been in sales for 25 years and thought I knew everything there was to know , however this book caught my eye and I have not regretted buying it. It has helped me realize that I have got it right so far, but also provided some excellent tips on how to structure the way I sell and the way I lead and manage . There are some great checklists and I will definitely be using the website for this too. It brings all aspects of sales into one place very well . Great book!

I am a recruiter for large companies and many of the positions I fill are sales and sales manager positions. In the past there have not been many books I would recommend experienced sales people read before going on a job interview. But I have started recommending this book. This book is rich in practical tips and ideas and has a clear, coherent presentation. I have used some of the sales experiences outlined in this book to develop interview questions for sales candidates. This is a good 'general' sales book with some excellent insights.

This book is far more then a book on sales, it will really help anyone leading a sales team, implementing change or assessing whether they have the right sales resources and what to do about it if they are not how they should be. I have already taken many ideas and implemented them into my day to day job. It is an enjoyable read and easy to follow. I am now thinking about getting the one on strategy too.

I run my own mid-size business and I'm heavily involved with all aspects of it. I'm largely self taught and with my experience there isn't much I haven't seen. Someone recommended this book and when I scanned it, a lot caught my eye. Now I'm reading it thoroughly. I've learned a lot. Sales is always evolving so its great when you can add to your skills. I like getting new ideas we can use right away and getting a different perspective. Guess we've been doing a lot right.

As a business owner with many responsibilities, I can't focus on sales all the time so this book will be passed on to my staff so we can all benefit. I recommend it!
