Product Description

Gritty, extreme science fiction with no holds barred, Salvation is Necromunda at its best: Dark, bizarre and dangerous as hell. In the nightmare industrial underworld of Necromunda, brutal gangs clash in desperate balles to increase their standing with the rich decadent families who occupy the uppermost spire of the teeming hive city. Zefer Tyranus was enjoying the quiet life as a curator at House Ko'iron. However, when he discovers the existence of an ancient artefact that may link his aspiring family with the founding fathers of Necromunda, he sets off on a dangerous quest to the very depths of the underhive. Fame and prestige await him, he has only to survive long enough to claim it!

About the Author

C S Goto has published short fiction in Inferno! and elsewhere. In real life he writes philosophy books, but real life isn't all that it's cracked up to be. He lives in Nottingham with four cats, where e remains very nervous about being a writer, since he is also a fiction himself. In his spare time he dreams about what he would do if he had more of it. Salvation is his second novel following the Warhammer 40,000 epic Dawn of War.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, Dec 30 2006
This review is from: Salvation (Mass Market Paperback)
Got Salvation for Christmas this year - it was an unexpected treat. I am an avid sci-fi reader, and I have always been skeptical of tie-in fiction, such as that put out by Black Library. However, Salvation has made me reconsider. This is a first class sci-fi novel that mixes elements of literary reference (such as Kafka) with sci-fi action, cool technology, and a uniquely 'Goto-esque' vision of the dark future. The 'hero' here is wonderfully drawn, and is one of the stand-out characters in the BL portfolio.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, Dec 28 2006
This review is from: Salvation (Mass Market Paperback)
Simply put, Cassern Goto is the finest and most creative writer currently writing for Black Library. I understand that a segment of the BL readership finds him difficult because he plays with some of the 'game rules' that allegedly define the worlds of WH40K and Necromunda, and also because his writing is not simply blood and violence. But his narratives are elegant and flowing, his characters are intricate and real, and his writing skills are far superior to anything else put out by BL. Goto is the only BL writer who stands up alongside mainstream SF authors.
If you're expecting mindless violence from Salvation, forget it. If you want detailed plots, intelligent humour and unexpectedly charismatic anti-heroes, then this is for you.
Try it ... you won't regret it.

1.0 out of 5 stars really, really bad, Mar 5 2006

Wow, this book is horrible. I have read fantasy and sci-fi for over twenty years and can honestly say this book is the worst of the worst. It is boring beyond words, and you never grow to care about any of the characters. I wish they had commited suicide after the first chapter so I wouldn't have to read 251 pages of crap.
Honestly I feel ripped off by the publisher(black library-warhammer)they don't seen to care about the quality of the books they print. It seems they only care about printing as many as they can to make money. It is a shame because some of thier books are really good.
