EDIT (31st July 2012):Get the Nexus 7 tablet instead now that it is out. Samsung are being really selfish about not updating this tablet to a new OS (Android 4.0) because they want to push Galaxy Tab 2 which isn't that great except it has the 4.0. Nexus has Android 4.1 which is EXCELLENT and twice the better specs at half the price. INSANE.

***ORIGINAL REVIEW***

So I purchased this from Amazon, seeing they had a good deal. So now my household has this and the iPad 3(The New iPad). People who say that the Samsung tablet is slow based on how smoothly it scrolls from one screen to other are just not very bright, that is all. You have probably read reviews for both so I am just going to clear something up if you are confused what to buy:

1. The iPad 3 has a GORGEOUS screen resolution. The Galaxy tab is right up there but doesn't match up with the iPad 3. The Galaxy tab obviously makes use of android, which allows you to run Flash blah blah. So when I was deciding what to gift my mom, I said to myself I'd rather give her something that has a great display and does everything, than the iPad3 which has a AMAZING display but the uses are limited. You can't even download mp3s on the iPad straight from your browser! I mean there is a workaround for most of these limitations, but the Galaxy just works right of the bat. And ofcourse I am a google fanboy(Android is owned by Google and they will become our future overlords someday)

2. The iPad does NOT really multitask. When you go to the home screen or run an app, all the other "open apps" are not really running in the background. iOS doesn't work that way! It just saves the state the app was in and closes it, and reloads again when needed. So no real multitasking going on, giving the illusion that its running fast.

This device is beautiful. The screen is bright, it performs quickly and the software is great. As a fairly new android user, it is a very intuitive and customizable desktop environment. I am very pleased with the build quality and software. would recommend to anyone!

I am an Apple person however I won't buy something blindly. After looking at various Android tablets and the iPad I decided on the Samsung Galaxy. The only thing I "gave" up was resolution and even that wasn't really a give-up. The Samsung has great resolution. In the end I got everything I wanted for less money! Can't ask for much more.

Or a better question, the "regular price" of $499 when BB is selling them at a regular price of $349?

Having said that, I'm mostly happy with mine, albeit the minor annoyance of it not playing some mp4 files very well. Other than that it's pretty solid, easy to use and a nice display. I may however take it back and trade up to the Asus 10" transformer, which for $499 has 32GB space, higher resolution at 1900X1200 and a faster processor.
