Nothing Like Kushiel,

For those who love Jacqueline Carrey's vivid, poetic world of Terre D'Ange, the beauty of her language and epic sweep of her tails, stay away from this series. It is the polar opposite of the Kushiel Legacy, with crude language and grubby people. Carrey is still a masterful storyteller and impeccable character-builder, but, if you are expecting another Terre D'Ange, you will be sadly disappointed.

This started out very slowly but built to a satisfying conclusion. I found the cover to be a little misleading as it suggests some sort of superhero character. While the protagonist is a mutant with extraordinary physical capabilities and a lack of fear, there was more of a boxing focus which I found surprisingly enjoyable.

I'm now hooked on Jaqueline Carey beyond any shadow of a doubt! I loved the Kusheline Series but this one is just as addictive in its own way! Can't wait to see what happens next!
