5.0 out of 5 stars Exellent Job, Aug 24 2005

This review is from: Sasquatch Horror Collection (DVD)
Sasquatch The Legend Of Bigfoot redone and put on DVD is worth it alone. I first taped this flick onto beta back in 1981 and had since put on VHS then onto computer. The quality had obviously had been seriously degraded. Try finding Sasquatch the legend of bigfoot at video stores etc... It just wont happen. This DVD set is worth it and im very happy with it.

I ordered it through Amazon.ca and put it on priority shipment. got it 1 day in advance than expected. So shipping was exellent considering I beleive im on the other side of the country.

If your a Fan of Sasquatch this video is just a must have.

3.0 out of 5 stars Recommended for fans of cheese!!!, Oct 24 2005
By H.M. 2005 - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Sasquatch Horror Collection (DVD)
This two-DVD set features one of the rarest Bigfoot movies ever produced-"Sasquatch: The Legend of Bigfoot", a cult-classic in its own right within the Bigfoot community, and two other films that have seen their share of DVD action in recent years, "Snowbeast" and "Snow Creature." First, the good. All three films have been fully restored ("Sasquatch" is much more noticably clearer and crisper than it has ever been). "Snowbeast" and "Snow Creature" are also very well-preserved. Unfortunately, "Sasquatch" is the best of the three movies. "Snowbeast" (a TV-movie in its original format) is a bit amateurish, and "Snow Creature" is a bit too poorly acted, and the creature looks more like a guy in a suit (of course, in all the movies, it IS a guy in a suit, but in this one, it's even more painfully obvious). Still, the three films are enjoyable in their own way; all three are cheesy but it's good cheese at times. "Sasquatch" has its share of poor acting, to be sure, but it to me is the most enjoyable of the 3 films. I feel a sense of excitement when they find the creatures near the end of the movie, and the creatures... well, I won't spoil the ending. "Snowbeast" is nothing more than a "Jaws" rip-off with a Sasquatch as the main protaganist instead of a 30-foot Great White shark. "Snow Creature", credited as the first Yeti/Sasquatch movie ever, is really not all that compelling or exciting, and all it has going for it is it's the first Yeti/Sasquatch movie ever made. Still, I will give the entire DVD set 3 stars, mainly for the production and crisp restoration done to the three films. I recommend it only for "Sasquatch". Skip the other two movies unless you're really desperate.

4.0 out of 5 stars Two out of Three aint bad., Jan 22 2006
By James Baack "I'm Mad, Bad and Dangerous To Know!" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Sasquatch Horror Collection (DVD)
This DVD contains 3 Films:

1- Sasquatch- The Legend of Bigfoot

2-Snowbeast

3The Snow Creature.

First off, Saquatch finally being released on DVD is reason for rejoicing. I mean schools and government facilities should declare a day off in observence of this occasion.

Sasquacth-The Legend of Bigfoot is by far the best Bigfoot film ever made. It is the Citizen Kane of Cinema Du Sasquatch.

It is a well made film that combines a Western Cowboy atmosphere along with suspense, comedy and its presented in a way similar to those old Disney nature flicks from the 1950's.

One surprising element of this film is the great music soundtrack. It's like a country folk sound and has actually some catchy tunes. When they play the music and show the dynamic footage of the mountains and forest, at times I was waiting for John Denver to walk out.

Another entry in this disc is "Snowbeast". This is a way cool monster movie that was originally made for television back in 1977. It's really sad that these days they dont make films like this for television. Today it's just man-hater and sick kids movies that they pour into the airwaves. This film has alot of imagination and a great spirit to it. It looks great and moves fast. The characters are interesting and Bigfoot has never looked better. I really like this movie.

The third entry in "The Snow Creature" which is a boring time waster. Thats all that can be really said about that.

I recommend this DVD for the other two films it contains.

Enjoy!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great set of sasquatch movies, Nov 22 2008
By Mark E. Fitzpatrick "Mark Fitz" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Sasquatch Horror Collection (DVD)
This is a wonderful set of three Sasquatch movies that needs to be in any 70's monster movie fan's collection. The first movie up on this triple bill is one of my favorite movies in this genre, "Sasquatch, The Legend of Bigfoot". I remember this movie actually selling out movie theaters even through it's second run screenings and was the most successful independent movie of its day. It's a well told adventure with a light-hearted feel. Although the creature effects don't stand up to today, the director was able to generate an air of suspense through some of the time-honored methods by keeping the creature out of sight and hidden. What makes this DVD release of the film special is the format. This is the only version I have ever found that is in wide-screen format. The color is also far superior and more vibrant to any other release I've ever seen as well. If you already own a version of Sasquatch, the Legend of Bigfoot on DVD or VHS, it would well be worth buying this one for the improved picture and audio quality.

The second film in this collection is Snow Beast. This made for tv film has been described as the "Jaws" of sasquatch movies. Much like the movie Die Hard did for the action genre, an entire slew of films have copied the marauding creature theme of Jaws. In this case, Jaws is being portrayed by a carnivorous snow monster who must have escaped from the planet Hoth in Star Wars. The creatures appetite for mayhem and fresh meat make you wonder whether or not the poor beast just suffers from an insatiable tape worm. The only motivation of this beast just seems that he is drawn to areas where he can be the most annoying as he rampages through a colorado ski resort in a manner not unlike Gary Busy in a reality show. The acting is good for 1970's television, and the actors themselves would be recognizeable to many 70's and early 80's film buffs. Aside from a rather large cheese factor, this can be a fun diversion but don't expect Gone with the Wind, it's a made for TV bigfoot movie.

If ever there was a movie that screamed for coherence it was The Snow Creature. It's black and white, which helps since the sasquatch costume looked more like the Jolly Green Giant caked in cigarette ashes. To get an idea of how odd the movie is, let's run through the gist of it. The movie starts out in Asia searching for the Yeti. Although the guides are Sherpas and everyone assumes they are in Tibet (including the script), the government officials speak Japanese. So, scientist is looking for something in the mountains to make science with, his guide's wife gets taken away by bigfoot and he decides he likes her enough to go after her, the scientists alcoholic used car-salemanesque tries to come up with ways of making money off the yeti after they finally end their denial about it's existance, the scientist shoves sasquatch into a refrigerator and takes him to the US and is halted by immigration. ?!? This is really the part that gets me. With all the people sneaking across the border the government has enough agents to send out to meet a guy with a bigfoot in a fridge to determine if he is intelligent enough (the bigfoot, not the scientist) and therefore needs a darned visa to come into the country. The rest of the movie takes the more predictable route because there aren't many places for a bigfoot kept in a portable beer fridge to go but out and into the city sewers. Still, if you want to see a black and white movie and don't have any good Charlie Chan films handy, this one isn't bad or is at least worth a good laugh. I guess the one good thing I can say about it is the fact it didn't involve the bigfoot trying to mate with any women (as many other 50's era movies seemed to think were all hairy creatures had to do to pass the time), it didn't have any musical numbers, and didn't involve a beach.

Overall, Sasquatch, the Legend of Bigfoot is a great find, Snow Beast is a great bonus, and The Snow Creature was made long enough ago that most of those involved with it's production are deceased and can't get back together and make a color version.
