4.0 out of 5 stars Erik Satie: an obsession for creativity, Jan 19 2007
By Walter O. Arruda - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Satie Remembered Hardcover (Paperback)
The Orledge's Satie Remembered, translated into English by Roger Nichols, is a nice suprise for those who wants to build up a picture of who was and what was importance of Satie to modern music. Through a collection of writings of his acquaintances, artists friends (e.g. Ravel, Debussy, Stravisnky), and even people who did not go along with him, we learn a lot of his genius and a sort of obsessive thrive to innovate, to create and introduce new concepts based on his particular views and the way he saw not only music, but art in its several forms and his excentricity in a Paris from the beginning of XIX Century. It is amazing that you can find 1,250,000 citations about E. Satie at Google, but for sure it is much more pleasant and worthwhile to know who was Satie through Orledge's book. I recommend this book and congratulate the author for his fine job.

My used book came exactly as advertised, in perfect condition, and when it was expected. Thank you, Bookmans, and also to Amazon.com for permitting me to hook up with this small book dealer! "Satie Remembered" turned out to be a terrific book -- full of newly-translated material not found elsewhere.
