Saved!

Amazon.ca

Classic teen comedy mixes with cunning satire in Saved!. Fervent Christian Mary (Jena Malone, Donnie Darko) believes God wants her to save her gay boyfriend by sleeping with him. But he gets sent to an anti-gay indoctrination camp while she ends up pregnant--which starts to drive a wedge between Mary and her snotty best friend Hilary Faye (Mandy Moore, How to Deal). Meanwhile, they're both interested in the son (Patrick Fugit, Almost Famous) of their Christian school principal (Martin Donovan, Trust). Saved! respects faith but gleefully mocks the excesses and absurdities of contemporary organized religion, particularly its suburban, let's-speak-the-language-of-the-kids manifestations. The actors, including Macaulay Culkin (yes, from Home Alone) and Mary Louise Parker (Fried Green Tomatoes), play their parts with sincerity, which makes the fusion of humor and heart succeed. A delightful movie. --Bret Fetzer

I thought this movie was really thought provoking, yet it should the extreme sides of both ways of life...Hilary Faye was the extremist of someone with faith and her enemy Cassandra was the extremist without faith...i thought that the girl who played Cassandra, and Jena Malone were the best in the movie, but Mandy Moore put on a very convincing preformance as well.

I watched this movie expecting your usual run of the mill lame teen comedy, but it actually turned out to be funny. I would compare it's comedy to that of Welcome to The Dollhouse or Election. I wouldn't suggest buying this sight unseen, but if you like weird comedy rent it, then buy it!

I Like Mandy Moore Movies so I asked for this for christmas this year. Since December 25, I have watched it 4 times. I love the Characters Mary and Cassandra. The Thing that got me pulled in was the fact that allthough Megan keep on saying No to Patrick, the new guy, he still insisted trying to get Mary to Say yes. The nice person that Patrick was, made me want a guy that loved to no matter what had happen in the past, and excepted you for who you are. That Type of Guy is a keeper. Although Mandy Moore plays a selfless person, she played that role quite well. Two Thumbs Up! You got to at least see it once!
