Good - with a hidden agenda,
By A Customer
Ce commentaire est de: Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts: Seven Questions to Ask Before (and After) You Marry (Hardcover)
This book had a lot of good suggestions... I guess I should have seen the fine print, however... It was given the gold medallion book award for excellence in evangelical christian literature... I didn't know this when I bought it. In fact, I didn't know it until the last chapter when, though you may do everything in the book right, though you may ask the 7 questions and understand some of the things men and women do to mess up their relationships with one another, if you don't go to church together and if you aren't of the same religion, forget it! You can never be soul mates! This last part of the book left a bitter taste in my mouth and made me wish I had never bought it. And it was almost as if it had been hidden throughout the rest of book. If the book were clearly advertised as religiously motivated, people like me wouldn't buy it, and they couldn't sell as many copies.

As an Author, Coach, and Motivational Speaker I read a lot of books about people, their motivations, and their relationships. Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts is an honest, straight forward, and personal journey to a healthy marriage. It's an excellent relationship book and I give it an A+.The Parrott's share their personal relationship journey with all the challenges, confusion, and celebration that a relationship can bring. They ask and explore seven powerful questions and illustrate them with their experiences with each. They then provide practical solutions that you can implement to help you create, improve, and enhance your marriage. The seven questions are: 1. Have you faced the myths of marriage with honesty? 2. Can you identify your love style? 3. Have you developed the habit of happiness? 4. Can you say what you mean and understand what you hear? 5. Have you bridged the gender gap? 6. Do you know how to fight a good fight? 7. Are you and your partner soulmates? I recommend you get a copy of Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts whether you're single, engaged, or married. It will prepare you for a great relationship that lasts a lifetime.

Practical points, but Finding God in your Marriage ruined it,

Ce commentaire est de: Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts: Seven Questions to Ask Before (and After) You Marry (Hardcover)
This book has good information, some of which may seem like common sense to some. Good points to ponder and discuss. The last chapter kind of ruined it for me though -- when I got to the section about "Finding God in your Marriage", I thought they might just be talking about finding general spirituality, but no, they were actually talking about a Christian God and Jesus Christ. If you're Jewish or have another religion, or just are not religious (atheist/agnostic), this might bother you, as it did me. This whole last chapter is basically stating that couples need to attend church, pray together, etc., or else "studies show" that their marriages are more likely to fail. If you reject this notion, you might not like this book. Or you could just not read the last chapter, because the rest of the book has very valid points and is actually very good.
