not the best of the saws, but necessary...,

This review is from: Saw 5 (Director's Cut) (DVD)
like some people said about the star wars prequels, this movie was not the greatest of from the saw franchise, but it was necessary to continue the story of jigsaw...while many parts of this movie just "flashback" to the previous 4 movies, this part of the tale has been presented in the most unusual packaging, provided you get the one with the saw sound and a button on the bottom of the front... the button on the front of the box is where you get a line from the movie and a rusty saw spinning sound... some of the other movies in the series have featured bizarre and unique packaging...

Hoffman's Story,
By
This review is from: Saw 5 (Director's Cut) (DVD)
'll be honest with you, Saw V is probably the one I liked less in the Saw series but that doesn't mean I hated it, in fact I still enjoyed it. At the conclusion of Saw IV we now understand who is continuing Jigsaw's legacy as Lieutenant Mark Hoffman says the words "game over". This time around agent Peter Strahm is on the path to discover who is continuing the Jigsaw legacy after John Kramer and Amanda Young's deaths. This Saw really focuses on Hoffman as we get to know who he is, his past (explained trough flashbacks) and how he came to work with Jigsaw. Jill Tuck, Jigsaw's ex-wife receives a box and we are left wondering what's in it and what kind of importance it has to the Saw movies. This sequel certainly brings up a lot of questions and doesn't answer much besides the ones related to Hoffman, it really complicates the series. If you are a fan this one is worth watching as well. I thought this fourth sequel was very clever and it's certainly an important one to the series as it plants the seed for what's next to come (watch Saw VI and you'll why it was so important) and we get to really know Hoffman, an important character. There is enough gore, the story was good and the traps were great. It certainly has its moments; however I didn't like it as much as the others, the story about Hoffman while interesting took perhaps too much of the movie.
