5.0 out of 5 stars way better than both previous chapters, although much more gory, Mar 7 2007
By falcon "disdressed12" (canada) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
'both of the previous 'Saw" films were very good,in my opinion.in fact ithought the 2nd 1 was even bettet than the 1st.however,'Saw 3' is a huge leap in terms of storyline amd character development.both are more fleshed out in this installment.i also found the whole movie more intense than the previous 2.it is however, much gorier than both, but again i didn't think there was anything gratuitous.i do however have a strong stomach,so gore doesn't bother me,especially if it is part of the story.to me,this third chapter was the natural evolution for the series and if they can keep the quailty up,we could have a long running franchise on our hands.that would be fine by me.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3 Times Better!, Feb 3 2007
The third installment of the 'Saw' series comes at a time when blood and gore seem to be ruling theaters. However, this series is one of the few that can successfully mix both gore and intelligent story lines. This third piece of the puzzle is fantastic because it keeps you engrossed from beginning to end. Also they somehow one again managed to create a twist for the ending that completly changes what you believed throughout the whole film. The acting is superb, unlike other new horrors such as 'The Descent' and 'Hostel'. If you are a fan of the series than there is no way you can pass on this terrific DVD.

2.0 out of 5 stars How bad can it get?, Jan 25 2007
By Greg Cameron (London, ON, Canada) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I had previously read a review that Saw III was much closer to the original movie than Saw II was, so I rented this movie with high expectations. However, even if my expectations had been lower I don't think that I would have been impressed with this movie.

While a couple of the "games" are creative (one involving dead hogs is especially gruesome), most are not and the fact that two involve naked women is a testament to the lack of imagination involved (show enough flesh and most people won't notice much else).

Also, the story may even be weaker than in the second movie; I found the second so forgettable that I can't be sure.

To me, it looks like Saw is yet another amazing movie that has spawned a series of sub-standard sequels that are made purely for profit. They will appeal to some teenagers and people who don't know how to keep themselves occupied, but I won't be wasting my time or money on another Saw movie.
