Don't bother buying any other battery powered deadbolt on the market. Build quality is excellent as are all the instructions.

The HUGE advantage this until has over all other manufacturers is that the battery is only used to engage a cam which then allows you to operate the deadbolt mechanism via rotating the "dial" as opposed to actually driving the deadbolt mechanism itself. Seems like a small difference and almost a step in the wrong direction, but here's the difference and improvement: Battery Life!

This unit will use one 9V battery for about a year or so. All other manufacturers you end up changing batteries on a monthly basis, if not more often. What's the point of a keyless lock that you constantly have to use keys for because the battery is dead?!?

I've tried many... Skip my mistakes and just get the Schlage!

Bought a cheap deadbolt somewhere else and had problems. The motor sucked the batteries, and it was unreliable. This Schlage lock doesn't open with the motor - it just unlocks the mechanism and you turn the lock yourself. Because of this, the batteries will last a long time. The lock is also very heavy and sturdy. Best price by far was from Amazon.

So much better than keys and it doesn't make that horrible noise like the Weiser one I had in university.

I purchased my first unit about 5 years ago for my garage so I wouldn't need a key and it is still running strong on it's original battery. The scalage design is simple and the fact that you turn the lock yourself saves the need for a motor and extends battery life.
I have had two others in use at my house for over three years and just purchased two more for my vacation home.
