My students and I laughed all the way through this one! It's a very amusing take on "Snow White," and I read it to my class after reading the original during the fairy tale unit we did for reading. We then made a Venn diagram, citing differences and similarities between the two stories. It's definitely worth reading!

Very cute! May 26 2009
By Rachel - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I read this to my 4-year-old daughter, and we both thought it was funny. The story parallels the original as far as the bones of the story go: she has an evil stepmother who hires a huntsman to get rid of her, he chickens out, Snow/Schmoe White is set free and runs away, ends up bunking with 7 little men, evil stepmother finds out and goes about killing the girl herself, a prince comes to save her.

While the driving force of the plot remains the same, the author has created his own story by changing the time to modern day; what the characters are busy doing beginning with the time Schmoe White finds the dorfs cottage; and of course the tone of the story from a rather morbid one to a light-hearted, humorous, and slightly irreverent one.

This is a great twist to an original fairy tale. My first graders loved it and were laughing out loud. It was in good condition and came in reasonable time.
