Simple, functional, very well built. A solid design that feels perfect in your hand. Should be the last pocket knife I ever have to buy.

Worth twice as much as it cost July 16 2013

beat this thing up for four months now and it is as tight today as the day I got it, blades have strong snap open and close. finish is good and the handles look nice, came fairly sharp and holds an edge well, sharpens easy on a stone, this little trapper is worth 2 or 3 times what it cost, I have many knives and this little china trapper is a real gem in the midst of some higher over priced American knives.

Perfect for the young scout Jan. 23 2014

Remember when you got your first pocket knife as a young scout? I have twin boys that are now old enough for a pocket knife. Being on a tight budget, I got these for the boys. Surprisingly good quality for the price. Not sure how long they will last but if they end up taking up whittling for a serious hobby, they'll probably need better knives. But as anyone with kids know, seldom do the kids stick with anything for long, so why spend a fortune until you are sure they are going to stick with it for a long time.

Pro: Great value, well built, looks great.

Cons: None so far - will have to see how well these lasts under heavy use.

updated 12-9-13:
I got 2 of these and wanted to change my rating from a 5 to a 4. 1 of 2 knives was without obvious visible flaws.
This is a very affordable medium sized ss knife. So, yes, it will take a drop of oil on each joint to loosen their action with use. If you cant manage that, dont buy it. If you can, you probably wont regret it, and you will get a good knife for the money. The scales are beautiful but sometimes slightly imperfect. The blades have a precise concave shape, which I like.

Just a few small issues to discuss. There are some minor flaws because you can't expect a perfect knife for less than $10 particularly because it is now made in Communist China. Stainless will rust, especially if it gets cold enough to get moisture in the air to condense upon it. Keep it warm & dry. Next it has a relatively soft ss edge that needs some consistant care. I read recently that a bladesman recommended stropping on the cut-off edge of corregated cardboard. This an excellent possibility if you dont have another stopping or sharpening means. My preference is for a ceramic rod sharpener, like the Spyderco. But the micro-edge of soft stainless will curl back and forth some, and needs to be kept perfectly straight to be sharp. You can feel when its off by dragging it slowly & carefully backwards over you fingernail at an angle (as if you are stropping it)on each side of the edge. But always be careful with sharp knives like these, ALWAYS grip the blades very carefully. Safety is the most important issue with such a sharp folding tool.
Overall, the design and workmanship are fair-good in my humble opinion, and the result is beautiful to me. A pretty little machine, which is really handy to have around for opening things, for the price of a song! Thank you, Schrade. This company has been making cutlery for over 100 years and it shows. I would have preferred if they were still made in America for better quality and jobs here, and I would pay considerably more for that, to get a better ss pocket knife. Alas, Schrade has no better competition at this price point.
