2.0 out of 5 stars Imperial Knife - Looks Nice, Works Poorly Dec 8 2012
Verified Purchase
This knife is absolutely gorgeous. It is a good weight and fits neatly in the palm of the hand. Upon first look, I was in love. Then, I went to open the blades... and my love quickly dissipated. Not only are the three blades almost impossible to open (I have to use tweezers to open them, and even so I can't get the third one open), but one of the blades is slightly bent. So from a usefulness standpoint, a knife that I can only open if I carry around a pair of tweezers and really work at it is very well useless. I have tried greasing the knife to no avail.
I absolutely DO NOT recommend this knife. Though it looks nice, it could be crafted much better.

I was keen to replace a pocket knife but balked at high prices. this Scherade three-blade knife is something I use everyday.it's as goodf for budding fruit trees and hybrid vegetables as it is for opening pacjages and whittling.More importanltly it keeps an edge.

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed Aug. 9 2012

This knife looks great, the handle is really beautiful, and it's very sharp. I got it for my boyfriend because I love the smaller white one I have from this company, but I'm not going to be able to give it to him. It's almost impossible to open! I've read a few other reviews of Schrade knives being too stiff and difficult to open, and this is definitely one of them. It requires way too much force to pull the blades out, and spey blade won't even budge unless I use pliers. Even after dousing with WD40, it won't open. Obviously, this is dangerous and it shouldn't take that much effort to pull out a blade. It may just be that I received a defective one, but I'm probably just going to get something of higher quality next time.

4.0 out of 5 stars Schrade 17S 3 Blade Pocket Knife Aug. 29 2013
By Bonnie L. Macy - Published on Amazon.com

This is a very adequate everyday knife for light duty such as an office workers use. I've had the old Buck Carbon blades and the same for Case and those are considerably superior but cost 7 to 10 times as much. Being retired I can use the Schrade and if need be replace it once or twice and be satisfied with it's performance.

A well made useful knife for a very low price compared to most other similar knives. I keep it in my car.
