Poorly organized, factually incorrect, Nov 18 2008

My son uses this book in his 4th grade classroom. We ordered an extra copy to keep at home since his book-bag weighed 25% of his weight when full.
Looking through it, I was alarmed to see that this book lists John Glenn as the first human to orbit the earth in 1962. I imagine that Yuri Gagarin, who orbited the earth in 1961 would be surprised to hear this. Such an error is unconscionable in a school textbook.
Also, any reference to evolution, natural selection, or hominids has been watered down to near uselessness. Leaky's discovery of Lucy is mentioned as a merely curious ape-like creature. The entire context of Lucy's importance is ignored to avoid controversy.
This is a very poor science book.

It is a wonderful book. Perfect for what we needed. No problems with my order. It was a very good experience making this purchase.
