First off, I'm part French-Canadian! Great story about young kids with a little "secret" which becomes revealed and his ambition is realized. Olivia and Marc are perfect as the parents who are horrified at the sport of hockey, as they are very passive and loving parents. (I've know ON-J since 10-86.) Great songs! A must see!Larry Barber in Dallas

Amazon delivered the product on time as promised so I have no issues with Amazon. This CD is boring and the songs are extremely dumb. I regret buying it. I actually thought that there would have been a few good songs here with Nelly Furtado and Olivia Newton-John but the lyrics are really lame.

...and it is very self knowing...HOWEVER, YOU MUST be Canadian. It is just not that funny to a native American.

SCORE: A HOCKEY MUSICAL is a movie I have not seen. I can only comment on the soundtrack album, which I bought immediately upon its release. I'm one of those die-hard Olivia Newton-John fans that owns everything she's ever released, so of course I was going to buy a movie soundtrack for a musical starring her.I was not impressed. The main fault with this album lies in the songwriting -- it's mediocre. Not terrible, but not Broadway-showstoppingly good, either. The performers, for the most part, are also mediocre. To their credit, though, the producers of this musical seem to have avoided the use of AutoTune, so at least the singing sounds real. Olivia's main contribution here is a song called "Hugs." She co-wrote it, and it's a tongue-in-cheek number that is mildly amusing. It reminds me of the material she sang in SORDID LIVES; she sings accompanied by a guitar and it's not material that is particularly flattering to her normally-amazing singing voice. All-in-all, I'd have to say that this is an album for pretty much only the die-hard fans (of either Olivia or the movie itself). Nothing here is going to pull a GLEE and shoot up the charts. It's not awful, but just don't have very high expectations and you won't be too disappointed. |
