Book Description

Jan. 16 1995 Elite (Book 56)
Over the centuries of their existence the Scottish regiments of the British Army have gained a reputation in war that is the envy of all and which can be matched, or surpassed, by very few. The very description 'Scottish soldier' conjures up images ranging from the 'thin red streak tipped with a line of steel' of the 93rd Highlanders at Balaclava, and the charge of the Scots greys at Waterloo (1815), to the more recent deeds of Scottish regiments in the Falkland Islands (1982) and the Persian Gulf (1990-1991). Mike Chappell chronicles the remarkable history of the Scottish units which fought in the two world wars.

5.0 out of 5 stars I think that the "Ladies from Hell" would like it May 6 2005
By D. D Lawson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
RSM Chappell has tackled a very interesting & complex subject in the form of the Scottish Regiments. I thought that the Text and Illustrations were 1st rate.Altogether a good over view that I think that the Author wanted to cover more but was limited by the scale of the series.
4.0 out of 5 stars A fair book Oct. 15 2013

A fair reference source, I just would have liked more detail of unit equipment, which would make it more useful to wargamers.
4.0 out of 5 stars A good solid coverage Sept. 3 2014

A good solid coverage. A fine addition to my collection. The color plates are a bit faded; better contrast would help. No real complaints.
