No, there's absolutely no reason to buy this CD, unless you want to have a CD with a random selection of excellent songs, have a lot of spare money and don't have a CD burner.
Each track earns five stars, but what is the corporate logic behind compiling Sonic Youth greatest hits? Sonic Youth fans are well-known completists. Sonic Youth are a classic album-rock band and songs have no meaning taken out of context. Even if it is supposed to be a "the best" compilation, or an introduction, some of the shiniest tracks from 80's SY catalogue are missing - notably "Tom Violence", "Green Light", "Schizophrenia", "She's in a Bad Mood", "Catholic Block" ... oh, well, should i go on?
The only reason i give this miserable waste of plastic two stars instead of one is the curious inclusion of "Macbeth", which really is the best track from the obscure Ciccone Youth rekkord. Mind you, that Ciccone Youth is still worth buying in its completeness, despite its wackyness and the extra star is given to the record company just for NOT ditching Ciccone Youth at all.
