beware of Amazon packaging,

Hard drive showed up in a box 10x its' size and with minimal packing material. I wouldn't even take a chance to open and try it. The amount of bumping around this did in the mail would have surely made it DOA (or soon thereafter).

Decent performance, bad for RAID,

I have two drives in my system, this one and a 7200RPM Seagate 2TB. The other is model STBD2000101 (really a rebadged ST2000DM001). This green drive is not actually much slower than the 7200RPM drive, measured with both a random seek test and bulk data transfer speed.However, I have these drives paired together in a RAID array, and this drive has simply stopped responding twice since I got it 3 weeks ago. The drive is still spinning, and does not appear to have gone to sleep, but no diagnostics work until the system is power cycled. After turning the system back on, no errors are reported on the drive. This drive is not recommended for use in any RAID arrays. Amazon's packaging is also pretty poor. The drive was loose in the bottom of the box, free to slide around unpadded. The internal drive diagnostics don't indicate any damage, but it would be pretty easy for problems to happen in transport this way.

i ordred a pari of these harddrives for use in my D-Link DNS-343. Harddrives were ordered and arived well packed and very quickly. even with Standard free shipping i had the harddrives 2 days after i placed the order. i am running these 2 harddrives with a pair of Segate Baracuda 1.5TB 5400 RPM drives in Raid 5. the drives preform as i expected and with no issues caused by the Advanced Format feature that is not compatiable with my device. for anyone planing to use these in a NAS device that will not support Advanced Format rest assured, as i did not have ANY issues what so ever.
