comes with a USB3.0 cable, and dock + adapter
however, the dock works on my old adapter just fine, if I can pay less without the adapter, this product will be perfect.

It really is much faster. I get about 113MB/s moving large files (e.g. videos) and around 80MB/s copying lots of small files (e.g. MP3's).
Installation took about 30 seconds. The adapter included the USB cable and a new A/C adapter (same 12V 0.5mA specs as the previous one) with a wide array of replacement plugs for travel.
After attaching the new stand, I just plugged it into my USB 3.0 port and got the performance improvement right away.
$35 is slightly pricey for the adapter though when new 2TB USB3 external drives are as low as $150.

I like the idea of this product very much although I'd have to say it's just a little too easy to bend the usb connector so that it doesn't work. I don't know how that be fixed and keep the same profile, so I don't count that as a fault.

Easy way to update your Seagate FreeAgent to USB 3.0
If your external Deagate HDD is USB 2.0 then this is an wasy way to upgradse to USB 3.0 which is supposedly 10x faster than USB 2.0.
