If you are looking for real stories that keep you on the edge of your seat, then this "A Haunting" Series, Seasons 1-4 is for you. A Haunting is a series that airs on Discovery Channel, and is based on stories from families, people, businesses, etc. who have encountered supernatural experiences. The stories are very well put together, and there are probably about 45 mins to each episode, (15 less minutes because there are no commercails). "A Haunting" takes stories and experiences from individuals and re-enacts them with actors. They do interview the people who did experience them, but change their names for privacy and protection reasons.
"A Haunting" is recommened by Discovery Channel for and 18+ audience, not because of language or sex, but because the stories are real and carry the potential to be disturbing. I would not recommend that you buy this if things like this really bother you, because some material can be bothersome; and I also would not recommend watching it before you go to bed, because it will be on your mind all night. However, I give it 5 stars because it is very well put together, and is very much authentic. It will keep you checking things twice after you watch it.

This is the paranormal series I've always been waiting to see! Stories from credible witnesses, detailing their experiences with good writers and wonderful actors. Events are portrayed in top quality reenactments. It's therefore no surprise that I find this the scariest show I've ever seen in my life. It's great for evenings, but not late nights (or you'll never sleep!)

As someone who is fascinated by the paranormal and has researched it for years, I found this collection of real life stories highly enjoyable as well as invaluable to my research. I believe that everyone should see this show, as nasty ghosts and demonic entities really do exist. They have influenced many people and in different ways. Some people will be shocked at how this may echo experiences they've had (or people they know) and may come to understand it better. Not that the show has 'the answers' or even pretends to. It's honest--yes, a paranormal show with integrity! This is an all-around RARE find!

My only complaints: 1. The lack of special features. I love this show and would really like to watch a docu or at least hear commentary on why and how they made this wonderful show. 2. The lack of a guide or some sense of organization. Episodes are not numbered in this set, nor are the sleeves numbered, so there is no way to keep track of where you are in the series. Episodes are not in their usual order either, making it even more difficult. You have to remember which episode titles you've already seen and otherwise, organize them any way you want.

Be sure to grab up a copy of "A Haunting in Connecticut" too, because that was the docu film that started it all!

I really enjoyed watching this series. I love a good ghost story and they delivered one. I think what made this such a good series was that it was based on real people and real events. That gave it an extra `wow' to it.

A typical show would start off with actors moving in to a new house with a narrator in the background setting the story up. As the show goes on and weird stuff starts to happen, they would break away from the story and show an interview of the person that went through it. After they said what happened, they would go back to the actors in the story.

It was a reminder of the dark forces that are all around us looking for an opening to come through. So many of the people opened the door for them because they didn't think anyone was on the other side. Others just moved into somebody else's problem.

The only two odd things I thought were every 15 minutes; they take 15 seconds and recap the story so far. I don't know why they thought I needed a reminder of the story I was watching. And if you have watched it, you will notice that all the cars have 2 small stickers on the front centre of the windshield. It must be some indication of an actor's car. Just another odd thing I noticed.

I enjoyed watching the DVDs more than the original series, somehow they did not seem as formulaic when watched in order. This is the complete series (39 episodes) but does not include either "A Haunting in Connecticut" nor "A Haunting in Georgia." Those were the original 2 hour episodes that spawned the series and have to be purchased separately. I was a little dissapointed that there are no extras.
