I use this book all the time. The pages are torn out and stained and worn and I need a new one soon. It is my most used cookbook in my cupboard. Im not sure why more people do not know about. The sourcream coffee cake is deadly delicious. I brought it to work today and people went back for 3rds and 4ths. They will be cursing me tomorrow but they all asked for the recipe. Im bringing in the book for them to look at tomorrow. Moist sweet flavourful and heavenly yum!

Lots of cookbooks say their recipes are can't-miss but the ones in this treasure trove really are. I've relied on it for many years for holiday and festival cooking. If there's a heritage dish your mother or grandmother once made and you wish you knew how to make it yourself, it's probably in Second Helpings. Many recipes offer modernized variations for contemporary tastes and methods but I use only the originals. To me that's what holiday cooking heritage and tradition are all about.

This cookbook is a real treat to use. The recipes do not call for expensive and difficult to find items. Best of all the recipes are all wonderful and sure to become your staple foods. A kosher kitchen is not complete without this book.
