The secret of 1798

The secret of 1798 follows the daily lives of Caitriona, her dad tom, her stepmother Ann and her baby brother Michael in their bid to keep Serge, a French soldier who saved caitriona's life from being caught by the British soldiers that are occupying Ireland. Serge caught pneumonia when he jumped into the sea to save caitriona and her dad Tom. They look after him for a while on board the French ship and then decide that he must come home with them. Serge writes home to his mother and tells his mother what has happened and that she has to hear caitriona sing. While they were out digging one-day serge and caitriona come across a book that tells them that there are 20 gold pieces buried somewhere and they have to find it. If they find it caitriona will be able to pay for serge's mother to give her singing lessons so that caitriona can fulfill her life long ambition of singing in front of huge crowds.
The thing I most liked about this book was it was a very easy book to read and there was no fancy words although there was a couple of French words that mammy translated for me. I
Would defiantly recommend anyone to read this book, as it is a very good book if you get my drift!
