2.0 out of 5 stars Two Unlikeable People, July 25 2009
By L. Rosenthal - Published on Amazon.com
It's hard to call this a romance, when the two protagonists have little appeal and even less chemistry. It doesn't take very long to realize that the hero is reticent and has a cruel streak, and the heroine spends the majority of the tale endlessly fretting inside her head about his motives. He whisks her away from an unfriendly family in England to a secluded Greek Island Estate, where I got the feeling she was trapped there, and I was trapped listening to her whine endlessly at him. She fears and suspects his motives at every turn, analyzes his every word and sees conspiracy in every look. And then, with a massively illogical turn, she suddenly and completely trusts her husband's sinister former mistress when the woman lures her away from the safety of her home and *tells* her if she would only stand on the very edge of a remote island cliff and close her eyes, she'll get a wish. Suddenly, all of the heroine's former paranoia and caution evaporates and she cheerfully rides off where, sure enough, the mistress tries to kill her. I found this an unpleasant read with unappealing characters and a plot that was far too simplistic.
