Product Description

From Publishers Weekly

Sheila McCarthy is the ordinary, gum-chewing teenager featured in this first volume of the Secret of the Unicorn Queen series. But Sheila's typical teenage life is soon forgotten when she is accidentally transported into a fantasy world of unicorns, women warriors and ruthless dictators. At first Sheila is horrified, but she soon becomes involved in the causes of the women warriorsto save the wild unicorns from slaughter by the evil King Dynasian. In fact, she is so engrossed in her new life that she doesn't want to return to her old one. This adventure is action-packed, a combination of sensationalistic romance and fantasy. It's pretty light fare, but teenagers will like reading about Sheila's escapes. Ages 11-up.

5.0 out of 5 stars I still remember these books!, July 18 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: The Secret of the Unicorn Queen 1: Swept Away (Paperback)
I wanted to be just like Sheila when I grew up. I even listened to a few Bon Jovi songs because of her (I was 8 when these books came out). I just recently figured out the name of the books (I had forgotten them) and now i'm trying to find them again to reread them. I still remember the book cover illustrations too!

This series is the magnificent books that everyone MUST SEE! I am now currently working but I still miss this series a lot since I read them when I am 10 years old. I'm glad I can finally buy the series. Miss them a lot.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unicorn Queen, July 23 2000

This is a wonderful series- I was in love with the books in 3rd and 4th grade, and even dressed up as Illyria(The Unicorn Queen) for Halloween one year. It's too bad they're now out of print- I never read past Book 5, and I'm still curious about what happens in the end. The whole idea of a girl escaping into a world full of unicorns and men who turn into eagles and beautiful women warriors captived me when I was younger, and although they're not exactly Lord of the Rings, the series deserves to be in print.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm in College and I still Love them, Oct 15 1999

I fell in love with these books when I was in Fourth grade, but my elem school library only had three in the series so I never got to finish them. I read the three they had all the way through seventh grade over and over until I moved. Now I saw the title in Amazon.com while searching for a gift for my little sister and I would love to get a hold of these books so I can finally see how they end and send them to my little sisters so they can enjoy them. Fantasy is so great. I love to see it written for the younger generations. And these are great books filled witha adventure and wonder. They even have romance to appeal to the younger girls. They are such creative books. Good Job to the authors.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you like Harry Potter, you'll love this series!, Dec 10 2005
By L. Wilson "PreludeLJS" - Published on Amazon.com

At the ages of 7-9, I was a very sick little girl. After coming home from getting stuck by needles at the doctor's office, my mom bought me this book. I think I finished the book in just under 2 days. I just couldn't put it down! It has everything; adventure, romance, drama, magic, and of course... unicorns! What an escape for anyone with an active imagination! This was a dose of girl-power and courage I really needed. As an adult, there are still lessons I can use in my grown up life. In a way I STILL want to be Sheila! I was lucky enough to obtain all 6 books. I urge everyone to do the same... it's worth every penny!
