"Think of all the different things that happened in the past as seeds. Some seeds grow, becoming the future, and some never grow at all."
Darrell Connor was a typical pre-teenager. Bright, active, and happy, without a worry in the world. Until that fateful day a motorcycle accident took her father's life and part of her own right leg three years ago.
Still bitter about her past, thirteen-year-old Darrell faces a new challenge: spending the summer at Eagle Glen, a "special" arts boarding school. Though reluctant, Darrell cannot ignore the sense of mystery there; it draws her. As unbidden friendships begin to form, she investigates.
While in the undertaking of catching an illegal crab-trapper, Darrell discovers a passage through time. She finds herself in Medieval Scotland during The Black Plague - a change of pace that eventually helps her regain her footing. Adventure abounds in the past and present for Darrell and her friends at Eagle Glen, and she begins to wonder: "Is it possible to change my past, too?"
SEEDS OF TIME is a captivating novel by KC Dyer. Her enjoyable writing style draws the reader in and holds them until the end. Complete with Scottish Gaelic vocabulary and castle terminology, SEEDS OF TIME is a miniature history lesson in disguise.

An exciting story with interesting characters, May 18 2004
When Darrell Connor arrives at Eagle Glen School for the summer, she doesn't want to be there. She's still bitter and emotionally rung out over the motorcycle accident that killed her father and cost her a leg several years ago. Now, Darrell's mother has dumped her at this place while she jets off to Europe. Yet the unusual school, the passageway through time, and the new-found friends provide her with unexpected opportunities to discover herself as well as adventures she will never forget. This exciting, well-paced story with three-dimensional characters is excellent for any young adult whose imagination is open to life with a touch of mystery and fantasy within a realistic setting. One easily finds oneself asking, "What would I do if I were in Darrell's shoes?"

Outstanding Book!, Sep 12 2003
I'm always thankful when high quality reading is published for teens. My daughter and I both loved Seeds of Time. The writing is excellent, the characters engaging, the plot riviting, and the historical detail, rich. I especially liked how the author was able to seamlessly demonstrate the contrasts between medieval life and modern life through the eyes of her characters. This is not your typical teen-angst fluff. We anxiously await the publication of kc Dyer's next book in the series.
