Medieval: Total War Gold Edition is the compilation of the critically-acclaimed Medieval: Total War and its official expansion pack - Total War Kingdoms. Medieval: Total War Kingdoms features four entire campaigns centered on expanded maps of the British Isles, Teutonic Northern Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas. In Medieval II, you were only given a glimpse of South America, but in Kingdoms, vast tracts of land in both North and South America have been opened up for you to conquer. All-new factions from the New World are also now fully playable, including the Aztecs, Apaches, and Mayans. In both games, you rule all aspects of your kingdom throughout centuries of medieval warfare. Lay siege to mighty fortresses and command vast armies across the battlefields of Europe and North Africa. This is Total War.

Fantastic game created by Creative Assembly based out of the UK, game mixes real time strategy elements with a campaign map akin to something that looks like Risk. You play as one of many kingdoms in Europe and the Middle East circa 11th century and you try to lead your kingdom to greatness through conquest of your surrounding neighbors. Diplomacy does not play a huge role in the game and could be one it's faults but the Total War series has never been known for it's intricate diplomacy systems. The goal is to build your kingdom as best as you can, build armies and invade. The gold pack also includes the Kingdoms expansion which is a must have as it includes the fully updated game to 1.5 and introduces mini scenario maps which some history buffs may really enjoy. These include the conquest of the Yucatan by the Spaniards in the 16th century, the British Isles in the 13th century, Crusader campaign in the 12th century, and finally the Teutonic Campaign in the Baltics in the 13th century. The game is also supported by an enormous amount of modders who continue to improve the game and introduce new scenarios on their own time. I highly recommend this title if you are new to the Total War series.

This is truly an experience, and with the added bonus of the Kingdoms expansion pack there is enough here to keep you addicted for several years. If you thought Rome was great then I can assure you, you will LOVE this. The graphics are amazing and yes you can play it on Vista and on any laptop that has a fairly decent gaming capability, I have a relatively low tech but competent system.

Dissapointed
The war battles are far too long. It takes foreever for the enemy to even appear for a long time, let alone engage in combat. I's not at all what I expected. Read more
