5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best systems ever made., Jun 25 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Sega Dreamcast System (Electronics)
This is a truly great system. It is a shame that sega stopped production of them. The games are graphicaly as good as anything out there on the ps2 and in some areas better. There are more great games for it than for gamecube. And the controllers are fantastic. The VMU is one of the coolest and innovative idea's I've seen for a console. Currently only 30$ or so for them used at places like ebgames you can't pass them up. You'll need atleast 2 VMU's and 2 controllers and I highly recommend a rumble pack if you buy one. If you've been a long time gamer you owe it to yourself ot pick up a dreamcast and a few games. Titles like Skies of Arcadia, Grandia 2, Shenmue 1 and the euro import Shenmue 2, Caution Seaman, Jet Grind Radio, Sonic Adventure, Sword of the Berserk: Guts Rage, Soul Calibur, Powerstone 2, Crazy Taxi, and many many more. All are reason alone to buy a dreamcast. Dreamcast is the most enjoyable console I've played since super nintendo.

5.0 out of 5 stars (Still) The Best Console You Can Buy, Jun 17 2003

Ok so Sega Dreamcast may be outdated and there are no new games coming out and just to fit in with the crowd you buy the Playstation 2, Gamecube or X-Box. Here's some news for you, Dreamcast is still better than all of these.

If you are worried that they aren't bringing any new games out for it, don't because there are over 200 games you can buy and nearly all of them are pure A+ FUN!!

That's whats wrong with the game industry today, none of them are fun to play, I mean that's the whole point in games isn't it?
PS2 - There are only a few original games, the rest area all sequels (Silent Hill 2&3, Devil May Cry 2, Metal Gear Solid 2, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy on God knows what number, this is only to name a few.)

Gamecube - Yet again another Nintendo system that just updates all the games that they have released before (Mario Sunshine, Zelda, Donkey Kong), and these are the only good games for it.

X-Box - Well, not many good games here, apart from Halo, that rocks! But the X-Box is all to serious-a-game console, "Fun" never comes into its gameplay. And the controller...yuck.

Sega Dreamcast - Fresh, new original games that have supreme magnificence, (Shenmue, Jet Grind Radio, Phantasy Star Online, Crazy Taxi, Space Channel 5, House Of The Dead 2..I could go on and on.) That's not to say the Dreamcast has no faults, it is rather loud compared to the other three consoles and they have stopped producing games for it, but don't let this hold you back.

One final point is the game price, the PS2, X-Box and GC game prices rage from £20 - £50, whilst the Dreamcast games you can get for mostly under a £10. The system prices for PS2, X-Box and GC range from £80-£120+, whilst the Dreamcast you can get for anything between £20 - £80, very, very cheap but brilliant. The Dreamcast graphics don't suffer at all, it's 128-bit console

This IS the last point now, I always get this feeling in the bottom of my stomache when I'm playing on the Dreamcast, the feeling that I'm playing the absolute best.

And if that don't incourage you, check for a pulse.
