Product Description

Album Description

Deluxe two disc (CD + NTSC/Region 0 DVD) edition Includes the full concert on CD featuring live-in-the-studio recordings of all the tracks on the album along with a bonus DVD of that performance filmed at Abbey Road Studios. The Seldom Seen Kid is a welcome return from the band, driven by a thunderous riff that reminds listeners of Elbow's love of the heavy as well as the delicate. Produced by keyboard player, Craig Potter, the album is the follow up to 2005's universally acclaimed Leaders Of The Free World. The lyrical core of The Seldom Seen Kid sees Guy Garvey address the key questions of life. The big themes of love and loss become the central focus of an album that sees Elbow, a band universally recognized for their musical ability and innovation, stretch their sonic template further than ever before. Polydor.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Live Show, Dec 8 2010
This review is from: Seldom Seen Kid Live At Abbey (Audio CD)
This is an absolutely essential item for any Elbow fan (and pretty much anyone else too)

ELbow's music, when accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra is a wonder to behold and seeing the look on the guys faces at the end of each song is fantastic. The commentary track is terrific too with Guy Garvey on top form.

Highly recommend this to anyone with even a half-decent taste in music.

Cheers,

I can't say enough about this collection. Whether you listen to the CD first and then see the video makes little difference although my preference would be to listen to the music and then see it in all it's glory. You know I often don't listen to the words of popular music but these are all worth listening to; they'll bring a smile, and often a tear, to you. From the first song to the last this is a feast for eyes and ears! Great melodies, harmonies and rhythems. We gave this to my daughter for her 40th birthday. When we played the video her best friend just sat there, eyes and mouth wide open in amazement. (we've since sent it from Amazon to her!) Why have we not heard before of this fabulous group!

Hi def sound & video, probably the best concert I've seen on DVD. Fantastic band with one of the best orchestras & choirs ever put on the same stage.

I stumbled on this video late one night and was immediately drawn to the music. The beautiful melodies are enhanced with the backing of the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Shantage choir. Although this is a double CD and DVD, the real magic is in watching it all come together as it takes you on an emotional journey. The lead singer is compelling to watch as he brings his own emotions into every song.

So who do Elbow appeal to? It is difficult to categorise their music - but if you enjoy wonderfully crafted songs that are inspiring and moving, you'll love it. Such talent is rarely seen...
