Book Description

January 1997 0815124260 978-0815124269
Self-Care Deficit Theory of Nursing presents a clear explanation of the concepts, terminology, and constructs of Dorothea Orem's widely used theory. In an understandable manner, this text presents the advantages of using nursing theory, and introduces the three main components of Orem's theory: Self-Care/Dependent Care, Self-Care Deficit, and Nursing System. The heart of the book examines self-care deficit in detail and describes the best way to organize and administer nursing care to clients with self-care deficits. Case studies help the reader apply Orem's theory to practice situations.

4.0 out of 5 stars Self-care deficity theory Nov. 9 2008

I found this book to be very helpful and detailed. The book clarified how the careplan should be designed utilizing the nursing process. Anyone using Orem's theory should get this book because it will simplify the organization, reasoning, and understanding of how to create a care plan. The only drawback is that when I ordered the book it stated that for $13.00 it had no markings and that is was like brand new yet when I got the book from river valley it was marked up with pen, the pages were all bent and there were notes written along the sidelines of the text. I would never recommend purchasing it from this company.
