Very good headphones,

I bought these for my mother. She's hard of hearing and loves to watch TV in her condo, but doesn't want to turn up her TV. She loves these and uses them all the time. The sound is very decent, comparible to my Sen HD555 except lighter and a litle more comforable over a long period.The range is good, constant all around her apartment and they don't cut out or have static. They come with an adapter so you can plug them into your RCA outputs. This is good because you don't need to adjust the volume on the TV. When I first set them up I put the stand on top of the PVR (which is metal). It was bearly audible, because it was on metal (its in the instructions). I placed on a wooden suface and it was fine. I picked these because of the Sennheiser sound qualify and comfort, rechargeable batteries and good wireless connection, and the RS 170's have delivered as hoped if not more in all these areas. The buttons are poorly placed and hard to use, especially for older not techinally inclined. And you do need to be careful in placing the headphones on the stand or else they won't recharge. Placing them on the stand does automattically turn them off and they use a standard AA rechargable battery.

Great headphones. This is my second pair of wireless and I really like them. Fairly light weight, low profile and excellent sound. There is not any static noises and the unit connects immediately with the sound source which my last pair had some trouble doing. The bonus is that they look really nice sitting next to my TV.Other people have commented on the small buttons. I didn't really find them to be an issue. I use the TV remote to change the volume, not the headphones. So I only use the on/off button and I only use that button once before I put it on my head. I didn't think the buttons are so small that they warranted a reductions in my rating. Well worth the price.
