I've lost a part of my hearing and wanted a headphone so that I could listen to the TV at a loud enough level to meet my needs without inconveniencing my wife. The Sennheiser RS126 does the job in that respect. Where it fails is in the design of the headphone's support. The two, curved metal supports on which the headphone rests when not in use are also the conduits through which low voltage current passes to charge the batteries inside the headphone. The problem is that the headphone does not properly make contact with the supports. You have to jiggle it until a red light comes on to tell you that the current is passing through. Irritatingly, that contact is lost after a few minutes and you have to jiggle it again only to loose the contact once more. I finally had to velcro a weight on top of the headphone and that solved the problem. Definitely a case where performance has been sacrificed for the sake of design.

Another problem was connecting the headphone to the TV. The owner's manual provided only very basic information. I followed the instructions and inserted the headphone's RCA jacks into the TV's outputs and got no sound. Then, I tried the TV's inputs and got nowhere. I tried plugging them into the CD player's outputs without success. I tried digging through the TV's settings and found nothing that I could adjust there. In frustration, I called Sennheiser's technical support in Montreal and was promptly told to return the product, which didn't appeal to me at all. I finally did one more test on another TV and it worked fine there. I returned to the original TV, plugged the RCA in the amplifier's speaker outputs and it worked.

I would recommend the product if you don't mind doing a bit of work to iron out the kinks. Otherwise, look at buying from another company.

2.0 out of 5 stars RS 126 failure after 3 years Jan 21 2013
Bought the RS 126 almost 3 years ago to the day. Was impressed at first - the sound quality and functionality were good although the headset is cumbersome and heavy, overall I was satisfied. We did not use the item heavily, maybe on average once a week and it was never harshly treated. Before it's 3rd birthday the right side stopped producing sound and none of the suggested suspects (batteries, volume, interference, distance, tuning, etc.) were to blame. A system failure. Sennheiser suggested the most cost effective solution was to buy a replacement headset at $60.00 (+tax+shipping).
Not impressed that the unit's life expectancy is only 3 years, especially for something with the Sennheiser name and expected high quality.

Pros:
This is a great product. The sound quality is pretty good. It's comfortable to wear. Once tuned in it works well.

Cons:
The reception inside is good but out in the yard about 40 feet from the receiver it starts to deteriorate.
