Every town has secrets. Every town has a past that is littered with violence and tainted with lust and greed. Serenity Falls is no exception. There are deeds best forgotten, buried in the past and hidden from prying eyes, but some things refuse to stay concealed. Something in Serenity wants to make itself known and doesn't care who gets hurt in the process. Serenity has had its problems, to be sure, but as a whole everything seems to be getting better. The local economy is booming and the job market has gone from almost nothing to enough work to keep everyone who wants the work employed. Still, something is going sour in the 'Falls. The cemetery has been desecrated, the children are disappearing, the locals are having trouble with all the new people in town, and there have been several attacks by wild animals. The town is trying to rebuild itself, to recover from over a decade of hard times, but every success is met with tragedy and Jonathan Crowley, a stranger himself in the town, is certain that the events are all connected. Proving his theories could be the death of him, because Jonathan Crowley didn't come to Serenity Falls looking for work like most of the newcomers. He was led there, drawn by a series of deadly encounters to look into the town's past and find out what the people who live there have been hiding. Because some secrets aren't meant to be kept and some towns aren't meant to exist. The truth will be known. The past will be revealed. Vengeance will be had. Every Soul Will Scream.

Great Book, needs a better proof-reader,

This book is great!! The only problem is the proof-reader dropped the ball. The story is very complex and the person who is responsible for little things like: spelling and making sure the right name stays with the right character blew it. I find it frustrating to have to reread a page because the name was wrong. The book itself and the story idea are great. Mr. Moore has several good story ideas going at the same time. Yet he makes it all work. If you enjoy complex stories this book is for you.

this was the second novel i read by james a moore and i have to say it is awsome. the story centers around the town of serenity falls and the people there. it starts off with another town burning to the ground and the thing that did it is just getting warmed up.
enter serenity falls one night during a thunderstorm the entity comes. what happens after that is the slow disintegration of a town from the inside. there is only one person that can stop the destruction and that is jonathon crowley (see under the overtree for his first appearence). what happens when he gets there you have to read to find out. this book is fast and exciting and has a ending that is fast paced and action packed honestly this is one of the best horror novel's i have read and for those of you that liked roland in king's the gunslinger series crowley makes him look like a wimp. read this book it is worth it. plus serenity falls has been rewritten and is being published in three parts with new content i personally can't wait and if you can't either buy this version. the only problem is it comes from vegas so it may take awhile 8 of 10 people found the following review helpful:

This was a really good book, along the lines of Masterton and Little, though the ending rang a bit like some Bentley Little books. I.e. they easily killed the monster the end. Otherwise great read. Fair warning though, there are on average 2 typos per page, just little frustrating ones, so hide all the pens and markers before you start, because it made me want to fix the mistakes myself before the end of the first chapter.
