Product Description

From Amazon.com

As a singer who has parlayed boyish charm and modest talent into a multiplatinum career, Tim McGraw seems like the guy next door who got incredibly lucky--and not just with his marriage to Faith Hill. This easy-listening collection features a generous 14 cuts, heavy on power ballads ("You Get Used to Somebody," "Take Me Away from Here," "Why We Said Goodbye") with soaring choruses and frothy sentiments, but light on soulful substance. For variety, McGraw proves a dead-on Springsteen mimic with "Forget About You," dubiously links himself to Hank Williams and Elvis with "Things Change," and crosses over toward Ricky Martin territory on the Spanish-tinged "Let Me Love You." Hill joins hubby on background vocals for the comparatively subtle "Angry All the Time." --Don McLeese

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent disc, May 8 2002
This review is from: Set This Circus Down (Audio CD)
I bought this disk just to hear The Cowboy in Me - but I fell in love so many other songs too. This disk has some catchy songs on it, and some real heartfelt songs too. I have fallen in love with Things Change (#5), and You Get Used to Somebody (#3).
If you like Tim in general, then you'll love this. If you're not familiar with him, think Garth with a bit less umph! (I hope that helps!)

4.0 out of 5 stars Set This Circus Down, July 17 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Set This Circus Down (Audio CD)
I wouldn't call this album outstanding; however it has several really fine songs and that's why I give it four stars. There's an emphasis mostly placed on those popular singles like The Cowboy in Me, Angry All the Time, and Grown Men Don't Cry. These are all good (Angry All the Time has brilliant lyrics) but you can find some hidden gems on this CD that are definitely worthy of your attention. My favorites: Telluride, Things Change, Forget About Us, and Take Me Away From Here. Overall, this album is solid, but offers no big surprises or no "Ooh, I really got my money's worth" type of reaction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great album!, April 11 2004
This review is from: Set This Circus Down (Audio CD)
Tim McGraw's 2001 album SET THIS CIRCUS DOWN is one of his best. He previewed the song "Things Change" at the 2000 CMA's, which was an unofficial first single. The real first single was the sentimental ballad "Grown Men Don't Cry". Next we had his version of Bruce Robison's "Angry All The Time", which his wife Faith Hill sings harmony on. It's a good ballad about a broken marriage. Other singles included "The Cowboy In Me", and "Angel Boy". There are a lot of good songs that should have been singles, such as "Telluride" or "Take Me Away From Here" which are two of my favorites. Other highlights on the set include "You Get Used To Somebody", "Why We Said Goodbye", and more. Overall a strong collection from McGraw!
