Product Description

2012 release, the fourth album of original material from this unique Pop artist. Julia Nunes plays ukulele super hard, she sings her face off, and she turns terrible moods into toe tapping sessions. She s most well-known for her videos, which serve as a window into the list of her favorite songs, as well as a platform for her heart wrenchingly honest originals. Viewers are willingly sucked into an alternate reality, where everything is harmonized and ukulele-ized, and Julia s lyrics and delivery somehow perfectly describe the feeling which no song on the radio can touch.

Original (and sometimes cheeky) tunes that when you play them, you can't help but smile. A day-brightening CD. Ukuleles rule!

Great new musician March 4 2012

I came across this artist last year when I was doing some ukelele research on Youtube. I really enjoyed her cover songs and enjoyed her music in general. When I saw her on Conan a few months ago I was was really surprised and excited. I was more excited to see that she had a album coming out and couldn't wait to purchase it. I got one for my girlfriend for a belated Valentine's present and I think she will really enjoy Julia's music as well. She is a great listen and really good songs to just plug in and listen to. If want good, easy listening tunes that are fun and make you feel good then Julia Nunes and her album Settle Down is just the right fit for you.

I'm on the bandwagon March 28 2012

I heard Julia Nunes on the radio. She seemed really cool and unpretentious. Her photos show a person who must be really fun to be around, with a huge infectious grin.

When her fundraising via Kickstarter significantly exceeded her goal, she took the opportunity to spend more time in the studio. The songs are short - she joked that she must have a short attention span. A few clock in under one minute. That's fine, if that's all the time she needs to make her point.

There is a low-tech vibe to this music, mostly a girl and her ukulele, occasionally joined by a few strings and some backup singers. The lyrics are sly and the tunes are catchy. Julia's voice is fine if unexceptional, occasionally reminiscent of early Carly Simon. When combined with the backup vocals, the effect is really excellent.

I find the music to be really comfortable for driving or just chilling out. It makes me want to sing along. This music should appeal to a lot of musical tastes and generations. It is definitely worth a listen.
