Dr. Seuss Green Eggs and Ham and Other Stories Deluxe Edition

Amazon.ca

The classic 1973 CBS television special Dr. Seuss on the Loose combined Green Eggs and Ham, The Zax, and The Sneetches into a 25-minute animated program that delighted a generation of children. This remastered DVD features bright, saturated colors; a nice clear sound; and a format that holds true to the original special. In Green Eggs and Ham, Sam-I-am relentlessly pesters an unwilling friend to at least try a taste of green eggs and ham in the hopes that he may like them. The Zax features two fellows whose extreme stubbornness inhibits any forward motion, and The Sneetches takes a look at how the star-bellied Sneetches and their plain-bellied counterparts learn an expensive lesson about the folly of judging others based solely on appearance. Dr. Seuss's timeless themes of acceptance and the willingness to try new things ring just as true today as they did in the 1970s, when these specials aired, and the 1960s, when Theodor Geisel (a.k.a. Dr. Seuss) originally penned the stories. Since Geisel was the coproducer and wrote the teleplay and lyrics, the prose, animation, and fun vocal songs represent his own vision of the worlds of Sam-I-am, the Zax, and the Sneetches. But most important of all is the fact that children young and old, as well as their parents and grandparents, will thoroughly enjoy this Dr. Seuss special. (Ages 3 and older) --Tami Horiuchi

It is a great story from Dr Seuss. Whether your kids like it or not is a matter of personal preference.

The price is good, but the video is pretty short too.

So fantastic! Much better than the new Martin Short voice overs. Oct. 16 2012

My 10 year old, 8 year old, 2 year old and I all laughed and laughed. In addition, the stories all are good for sparking conversations. These are the classic, real thing. We can't stand the new Martin Short voice on the Cat And The Hat series on PBS. YUCK! These are so much better. Classic, clever and hilarious.

It's one of my kid's favorites Jan. 5 1999

It's a great re-creation of the book in video form. I've seen some other Seuss Videos that I thought were animated but they turned out to be just pictures with some pretty lame narration. I can practically see Theodore Geisel rolling over in his grave. But this video is one that you could imagine was done by the good doctor himself

If it's a sing-along, sing along! Jan. 14 2005

The songs on this video are great. Green Eggs and Ham is a very famous Seuss book, and now it's made it to the small screen. What's next in store for this book? The big screen? Well, I sure hope so! The songs are perfect to sing along with. In fact, every time I read Green Eggs and Ham aloud I always sing the title to a tune from this video. The Sneetches and The Zax are also included along with opening songs by the Cat in The Hat! Happy watching!

Great lessons for the kids. My two year old loves this video. The sing along is great. The songs are now regular tunes sung in our house. Wish there were more Dr. Seuss Sing alongs!

Love, love, love! My ONLY complaint is the "other stories" (the Zax and The Sneetches) that come with it are identical to the other stories that come with The Cat in the Hat.
