Product Description

Product Description

Teenagers in today's world are caught in the middle of an all-out war for their souls. Their warrior parents are losing, mainly because they are not well prepared for battle. No one is in better position to protect these children than their parents, but they must know the weapons of the enemy before they can successfully win the battle. Sex, Lies, and High School encourages parents to persevere in fighting for their children's souls by informing parents about the influences that are pressing on their children (such as the prom, spring break, media icons, sex education, clothing, STDs, dating, and abstinence), by showing them how to spot signs of trouble in their children, by educating them in how to discuss these things openly with their children, and by offering alternatives to the negative and harmful influences of our culture.

This review is from: Sex, Lies And High School: How Spirituality Defines Your Sexuality (Paperback)
I am about half way through this book. To be honest I am having a hard time staying focused while reading. It covers issues that to me are common knowledge. There are a few good points. It is easy to tell the book was written by to females. I am raising 3 teen boys & the book is giving more pointers about how girls should dress & act. There are some mentions about how boys respond to girls. But early in the book, there are several pages about how boys should respect girls when they are going through their teens. I believe we should all respect each other. I almost quit reading the book at that point, but am trying to stick with it. I work with a youth group at church & hope to gain some perspective from a teen girl's point of view. Because my boys are older teens & I have already lived a lot of what the book talks about may be why I feel it is more common knowledge. But all in all if you are raising teen daughters it is probably a good book for you. If you are raising boys, you may want to research another book.
