The Love At Stake Series is full of humor and fun but there is always danger lurking as well. We have known Gregori Holstein since book one. It was because of her job that Gregori was attacked in the parking lot by an evil vampire and his mom begged Roman to turn him, and he did.

At first sight of the man getting out of the Limo below her, Abigail Tucker, the President's older daughter, felt drawn to him. Her sister Madison had heard that their father had a meeting with vampires and she was watching for some to fly in. Abby has been out of the lime light as she looks for a cure for her moms lupus. When they find that vampires do exist and can teleport, her dream of getting to China for special healing plants is realized. If only she can continue to convince herself that she does not want to fall for a vampire.

Another exciting adventure for our guys. And a book full of new quips to laugh about. A crabby Sean Whelan who is trying to convince his CIA guys he's still human, Howard Barr and his never ending hunger for Bear Claws, more of Rajiv the were-tiger, and JL Wang, and most of our friends return for this journey. Connor & Marielle are still honeymooning since it was only last week they married. So until next time...we can read the first eleven books again.

Vampires are threatened after a video revealing their existence is shown to the human public. Gregori Holstein is sent as a vampire representative to the president in hopes he can form an alliance with the U.S. government and have the video labeled a hoax. In exchange for the governments help, Gregori will need to take the president's daughter into unfriendly territory so she may find items that could help cure her dying mother. The trip itself is the easy part, for Gregori the real challenge will be keeping his hands off the beautiful and intelligent Abigail.

Gregori has been part of this series since the beginning and I was thrilled to learn he was getting his own book. He's one of the younger vampires so there's a modern feel to him especially when compared to the centuries old males from previous books. He's smart, charming, hardworking and an all around great guy. Abigail is a good fit for his character. She's not just another vampiress who is looking to bed him. She has actual depth and intelligence to her and like Gregori, is close to her mother. I didn't think that there was much of a transition between Abby being afraid of what Gregori is and falling head over heels in love with him. It just seems to have happened and I felt as if I missed out on something. There also wasn't a lot of sexual heat between them. It was more about emotions and overcoming obstacles than a physical relationship. All that is fine of course I just thought with it being Gregori's book, there would be more sexually intense scenes. Despite the couple issues I had, I thought they made a cute couple that really deserves their happy ending.

In the previous book, the malcontents (evil vampires who enjoy drinking from humans and have no problems killing them) suffered a big loss during a battle which led to the release of the video tape to the humans. In Sexiest Vampire Alive, Gregori and his fellow vampires are dealing with the aftermath and trying to contain the situation before it's open season on the undead. There are brief cameos from several regulars but most of the time was given to Gregori and Abby. The mission to help save Abby's mom takes them and their team of vampires and shifters into China and took the plot in a more dramatic and action filled direction. I thought this was great because we learned more about characters that we've briefly met before without taking the story in a confusing and unnecessary direction.

Sexiest Vampire Alive is a book I think fans of the series will be happy with. Gregori is so much more than the ladies man and people pleaser he wants everyone to think he is and I enjoyed seeing all the different layers to him. His and Abby's relationship was sweet, it's just that I wish the transition to being in a relationship didn't happen so quickly. There have been human/vampire pairings before but I felt Gregori and Abby had more to overcome and it made for a really emotional read at times. This wasn't the best installment in the series but I still thought it was a really good read.

The beginning was laugh out loud funny. Gori has some great one liners and I was entertained. I must admit that before the summery came out I thought it was about Phineas (cause when you say the sexiest vampire alive I think of the Love Doctor). There was very little of the other characters. Sure we saw Howard a lot, but we didn't get to know anyone any more then we did-though Angus and Phineas cracked me up. The fight scenes seem to be all the same from one story to the next-but I guess it is to be expected they were a bit boring compared to the huge war in the last book. Obviously the attraction was there, but the scenes lacked heat that were in the other books-can you say Vanda and Phil!!! Glad they showed him more masculine-cause I don't go for the metro sexuals. I HOPE we see more Phineas in the next book (I love him) and get updated with Connor. Their community is getting HUGE. I almost need to make a spreadsheet that list everyone and who they married! Cant wait for the next book.
