Overall very good - but ...,

This review is from: Sexy Beast Ii (Paperback)
Having read Wolf Tales up to issue five, I appeared to be missing parts of the overall story here and there that were referred to in later storylines, so it was an absolute must for me to catch up on the short ¡„in-between¡' stories to get the full picture. It is not always the case that short stories in a series are as fulfilling as the full book version ¡V with the Chanku saga it does. Nice!
This time round Kate Douglas takes us to Arizona in search of Baylor¡'s sister number one. Two members of the Pack Dynamic team have been sent to find her even though we never quite find out how they know where to start looking since Baylor has not had any contact with either sister in years. However, the setup and simple assumption that they do know and are on the right track makes the reader accept the fact without too many questions and it works. Noelle Mack¡'s story Fantaisie wasn¡'t quite so convincing. The idea was intriguing ¡V although, on some level, the premise rang familiar as if I had heard or read about it before. Nonetheless, it essentially worked and the storyline appeared plausible, interesting and original as well as easy to read ¡K until we get to the end which rather sudden and abrupt, leaving a somewhat sour taste so to speak. Shame ¡V this could have been quite a story, had it been carried through to the end and it usually does not even take that much. Story number three by Kathleen Dante proves just that. Call of the Wild, again, deals with shapeshifters ¡V this time round they are described as werewolves rather than Chanku although the general idea is the same. Did you know that ¡„were¡' actually translates to human? Hence the description of werewolf or werecat that I have come across as well are pretty accurate. Again, the story unfolds nicely and keeps the reader on its toes and not wanting to put the book down right up to the ending. At first, I was almost worried that the story would be left hanging again ¡V but a simple short monologue resolved this worry in the end. Nicely Done!

MMMMMM,

Chanku Fallen: For those who have followed the Chanku series, you will be happy to know that Mik and AJ finally get their own story! They are searching for Baylors sister and find there bond mate. The story is very sensitive to the love between Mik and AJ but allows them to become a happy menage with their female Chanku mate. Very hot and sexy as heck!
Fantaisie:Interesting concept about immortality and love. Voyeurism and acrobatics abound. Call of the Wild: Deanna is seeking her heritage and finds it with Graeme. The sex is hot and be warned that his wolf makes an uxexpected appearance during sex...may be a little too off the charts for some more sensitive readers. But if you have the craving for anything hot and sexy this story will rock your world! 5 of 5 people found the following review helpful:

Open yourself to pleasure and indulge the beast within...,

All three stories are fun, romantic, and so erotically sexy enough to make the dead sit up and take notice! This is the 1st installment I've read where all three stories were erotically engaging. The pace and build-up of the couples' relationship were natural and believable. A definite REREAD.
"Chanku Fallen" by Kate Douglas. AJ and Mik, upfront about their sexuality, oozing with sex appeal, are a damsel in distress's dream comes true. After reading Wolf Tales IV, I felt there were some events mentioned in the book that was not part of Wolf Tales III. These missing parts were made clear after reading Tala's story in this anthology... The Wolf Tales series continue in both "Wild Nights" and "Sexy Beast" (both are anthologies)... The allure of two men making love was never this interesting to me before. However, Kate Douglas describes the scene with such poetic and emotional eloquence only a true artist could conjure. 05.25.09 "Fantasie" by Noelle Mack. This story was HOT! Every sensual encounter was seasoned with a ravenous animalistic desire with an intent to be sated, whether it be on all fours or gentle bondage, teasing this reader with the sensation of erotic living picture shows. This story was very erotic. It will stimulate some of your wild desires. Not to mention, Jean-Claude is certainly the kind that will love you senseless; he is so attentive to her needs; every suggestive scene radiated tenderness. The only thing I find fault with is that it was too short, and the ending was a little disappointing. I was expecting something grand that included the lion or Jean-Claude changing into one, but no such luck. Just when I was getting into it, it was over...well it was a short story, right?! Other than that, it was great. 05.26.09 "Call of the Wild" by Kathleen Dante. I typically don't read Dante's books because of the over-analysis inherent in her writing style, and though it was present in this story, to some degree, there was a strong plot, and the characters were likeable. Their challenges with indecision and taking risks felt real. Graeme and Deanna both have strong personalities that make it truly a joy to watch the slow development of their relationship and the passion ignite between them. This story was stagnant toward the middle (too many unnecessary details), but the extensive pages of exuberant love scenes that permeated the pages cast a shadow on my former disappointments, and brought an enjoyable respite from the crawling pace. The moral of this story is that one should take risks because risks are what life is about. I am surprised Kathleen Dante has not written paranormal romances in the past, that this short story and "Night Pleasures" in "Wild Night" are her solitary attempts. Kathleen Dante redeemed herself in this masterpiece ("Nights Pleasures" was a bore). There is a very good story here with all the elements of a strong series. The storyline can do a good job of standing on its own in a book or series. 05.27.09 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful:
